Color Blocking

2-Story Apartment

Blue Point, Sydney

Curving Residential.jpg

Concept

Space planning was created by a set of lines and organic shapes dividing rooms which were then translated into different elements such as screens and hidden doors. Rounding off the corners of various elements enhanced the fluidity in the space.

The greatest feature of this project design is how the color blocking continued throughout the house. Each room in the house has its own color theme to represent the function of the room. For example, the contrast of a black and white cabinet with red glass splash-back counter in the kitchen area creates a bold statement for this lively area of the house. This design urged not to hesitate bringing in different materials and colors into a house design such as velvet wallpaper used in the guest bedroom as well as the acrylic shelving in the washroom.
